This year's Teen Art Group has been working on and planning the Teen Meet the Museum event which is exclusively for teens ages 13-19. Based on the exhibition by D.J. Hall the evening is a photo party inspired by her beach and pool scenes. There will be food, music, art-making, and DJ Hall herself as a guest artist. All are welcome. The evening is free and all attendees will receive a free one-year membership to the art museum.
The party is on Friday June 27, 2008 from 7-10 p.m. Each student must bring the signed waiver form with them the night of the event or they will not be allowed in.

TeenStudio Projects is a two week summer art program created especially for teens ages 13 to 18. A variety of workshops, presented by a team of museum educators and visiting artists, encourages young people to make their own personal connections to art by providing them with access to the museum, artwork, and artists of their time. In addition, the program provides an opportunity for teens to meet other creative and like-minded individuals.
Altered Clothes (session 1 & 2) is a two-week class that will focus on different aspects of the fashion industry. Teens will create a color board, sketches, and alter an existing piece of clothing. The session culminates in a fashion show. Video Now! (session 3) is a one-week class that allows teens to be script-writer, videographer, actor and editor all-in-one. Working with independent filmmakers Terry Miller and Edward Cating, teens will create a video piece of their own and end the week with a screening of their work. In Manipulating Reality II (session 4) photographer Chari Godakanda will blur the boundaries between traditional and digital photography by showing teens how to use Adobe Photoshop to manipulate their images. This one-week will end with an exhibition and ice cream party.
The Art Museum will provide a limited number of need-based scholarships. All applications for scholarships are confidential. For more information and a brochure please call Emily at 760.322.34886 or email .

Teen Docent Program
The Teen Docent Program is an exciting opportunity open to all high school students in the Coachella Valley. Participants will come to the Art Museum for three weeks in August to learn how to be docents. They will study art history, practice public speaking, meet new people, and gain confidence in a fun and open environment. Teens will engage in and learn how to encourage open discussions and multiple interpretations of the artwork on display at the Art Museum. As one Teen Docent said, “I’ve never been in a program this fun and educational at the same time.” Activities, guest speakers, and a field trip are all a part of the experience.
During the month of September teens will come to the Art Museum to practice their tours and beginning in October they will lead 4th and 5th graders by sharing their knowledge and skills. As mentors, the Teen Docents are able to connect with and encourage the children on the tours. One fifth grader wrote to her Teen Docent, “Thank you for being a great Teen Docent. I want to be just like you. I can’t wait to see you again.”
In addition, participants who complete the program receive school credit, a stipend, and a one-year complimentary membership to the Museum. If you or someone you know is interested in applying please contact Emily at 760.322.4886 or for an application.
Teen Docent Program is sponsored by the Jeanette C. McIntyre and Frederick (Lash) McIntyre Charitable Foundation Trust.

Teen Docent Podcasts
The “Teen Choice Tour” is the Palm Springs Art Museum’s first-ever podcast. Developed and presented by the 2007 Teen Docents, this podcast will look at the Art Museum’s collection in a new and exciting way. Each of the Teen Docents will present their favorite piece, discuss why they like it, and offer their own interpretation.
The Art Museum currently has 28 galleries, five art storage vaults, two sculpture gardens, four classrooms/resource centers, a 90-seat lecture hall, the 433-seat Annenberg Theater, a Museum Store and a Café in an architecturally significant building designed by architect E. Stewart Williams at the base of Mount San Jacinto. An adjacent Administration building contains offices and a 12,000-volume Library.
