Discoveries in Art

Discoveries in Art is an after school art education program for children grades K-8. With our experienced instructors and fun-filled art studios your child will learn to: Practice brush strokes, design a composition and mix colors. Coil and pinch pots, then mold and build slabs into 3-D objects. Sketch shapes, draw figures and add details such as shadows. Experiment with paper, cloth, metal and scraps.

Each week your child will enjoy an artistic journey with hands-on projects and museum gallery experiences. Each session meets weekly for eight weeks from 3:30 - 5 p.m.

• Session 1:   September 29 - November 20, 2008
• Session 2:   December 1, 2008 - February 5, 2009 (no class the weeks of December 22 and 29)
• Session 3:   February 9 - April 2, 2009
• Session 4:   April 6 - June 4, 2009

Classes are appropriate for beginning through advanced students. Children are grouped by grade level. Early registration is recommended as each class has a 15-person limit.

Fees Per Session

• $75 for members
• $85 for non museum members

Scholarships:

Limited need-based scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition, the museum will reduce class fees for applicants demonstrating need. Call Irene N. Rodriguez at 760.322.4837 for details.

Refunds:

All refund requests must be made two weeks prior to the first class meeting. Fifteen percent of the class fee will be retained by the museum for administrative purposes. If the museum cancels a class due to insufficient enrollment, the entire fee will be refunded.
